New Year’s Resolutions

What is the ending of an old year without the resolutions for a new one? I saw the idea for a “fill in the blank” style resolution sheet floating around on Pinterest, but it was from 2013, not that it matters a great deal, and another blogger had updated it to be from 2014. Sadly I did not bookmark the page, and the pin I originally saw I can’t track down, and all the other pins lead to one of those image collection sites. I like pinning to the source if possible.

Instead of bumming off the image someone else made, I decided to recreate my own based on the 2013 one, which also seems to link to image collectors and not to an actual person. This sheet is very plain-Jane, but I like my version  of the questions better.

My Resolutions

I include a blank for you to fill out if you’d like:

Or make up your own. 🙂 I’m really looking forward to playing with the watercolors I got for Christmas and toying with the coffee painting. As for the last year? It’s been…well, 2013, frankly I never in my life want to repeat you. You had your good times, but trials and tribulations sprung up far too aplenty for me to declare it was a good year.

Here’s to a more joyful and productive 2014!

  1. Very doable, very well rounded–I like your goals.

I told myself I was going to forgo resolutions this year. General or specific, for me they always come to naught after a few weeks. As of yesterday, however, I started my list, and I’m happy to say it wasn’t inspired by a guilty conscious but from meditating on specific out-put numbers. I think my resolution goals might be a bit more successfully met if I put a definitive number on how many words I want to produce per session, day and week. Once I got started, the project mushroomed into what I’d like to accomplish for the year, including other less direct but associated writing goals like bed times, exercise, music sessions, etc. It was easy coming up with resolutions and easy to make sure they were not too far-fetched or inflated beyond do-ability. The question I have for myself is how do I make ’em stick? How do I maintain the discipline required to see them through? I know it can be done. If I could figure out how, I could rule the world! 🙂

    1. I have found that if I can work my resolutions into a routine, they work! That is, so long as I have not chosen a resolution which I have no control over. It also helps when I think to myself, I only have to really work to do this until mid-February. If you can do something consistently for 6 weeks, you can do it the rest of the year. …of course, I have abandoned more resolutions than I’ve kept, but the ones I have kept have been worth it.
