As part of a way to get blogging again, I’ve decided to post the occasional journal entry. I started it a few months ago, and have been good on keeping it up to date. I include things like what I’m reading, which project I’m on, and basically whatever crops up in my head to get the gears turning. Today this includes a recipe which I discovered while typing up handwritten pages from my notebook. There are also excerpts from the day’s work.
Grimoir Entry 17 March 2015
St. Patty’s day. Husband is making a Mulligan stew using chunks of beef, a pint of stout, pickling spice, carrots, cabbage, potatoes. I’ll probably have to see what I can do about making some rolls or something to go with it. Been having afternoon migraine and heartburn issues the last couple of weeks, not sure what the trigger is, but if I move slower than normal and avoid flashing lights and whatnot, I can avoid a real headache and keep up life as mostly normal.
I’ve decided to start doing mandatory 2000 word increments.
-
2000 words/day on “final” text of primary document
-
2000 words to blue line edit on previous final draft
-
2000 words to rough draft on primary document
-
Free time for whatever project
Today the primary project is Swan Queen. The previous final draft is Black Locust Letters. The idea being that once I’m through working through BLL, I will have a completed text of Swan Queen which can then take the place of BLL as a secondary project.
Alright, I have edited the opening of BLL now, that took a lot less time than it took to unpack Swan Queen’s opening lines this morning. This leaves me to do more work on Swan Queen’s draft.
Here is a random recipe for
Blueberry and Lemoncurd Coffee Cake
- 2 cups self raising flour
- 1/3 cup butter, soft
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- Generous ¼ cup lemon curd
- ¾ cup milk
- 2 cups blueberries
-
Beat the butter then add the sugar until very fluffy, then add the eggs until even more airy, then add the flour and milk alternately. Lastly stir in the blueberries and lemon curd. Bake 350F for 30 minutes or so. Really good with a crumble topping.
